The World Book Day was organised by the “Culture for all – phase III” project, in collaboration with ARTPOLIS, on 22 and 23 April 2016, in Pristina.

The WBD included the following activities:

  • A Book fair with the participation of 12 bookshops such as Dukagjini, Buzuku, Artini Albas, Faik Konica, Pema, Soma Book Station, Ura, Titanik, Dit’ e Nat, Damo, etc., 5 books salesman and representatives of the Department of Author Rights within the MCYS, representatives from “Hivzi Sylejmani” library, American Corner from the US Embassy and Alliance Française de Prishtina from the French Embassy. Over 3.000 people visited the book fair.

  •  Public reading and an art installation at “Zahir Pajaziti” square. A corner for reading with books from the Hivzi Sylejmani library was installed. Over 250 people, students and children visited the corner to read the books.

  • A workshop organised in the “Fidan Lahu” centre of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in Fushe Kosova. Shpetim Selmani, a poet and professional artist read and painted poetries with over 18 children who participated in the creative workshop.

  • A poetry night and music organised in Modelarium of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Pristina. The activity involved professional artists such as Dardane Mehmeti, Shpetim Selmani, Safete Rugova and Melihate Qena and activists such as Aulone Kadriu, Visar Arifaj, Shukrije Gashi and Bajram Kafu Kinolli from Roma community, as well as DJs. During the poetry night, 5 awards to most active readers at the “Hivzi Sylejmani” library were distributed.

As every year, the event attracted local media such as KulturPlus, RTV, Klan TV, among others.
